Commissioning Test Section Lead
Job Description
Under the supervision of a Commissioning Test Manager, responsible for:
• Managing a commissioning team delivering commissioning tasks.
• Supervising a contractor delivering commissioning.
• Commissioning input to project and operational strategies.
• Input into design and safety cases.
• Authorising safety schedules and documentation.

Principal Accountabilities
• Execution of the arrangements for controlling, witnessing, recording, and assessing the results of commissioning tests including those that affect nuclear safety.
• Deputising for Commissioning Test Manager.
• Representing commissioning to internal and external stakeholders/regulators.
• Identification of resource requirements.
• Workload prioritisation.
• Ensuring that team members fully understand their responsibilities and are SQEP for their roles.
• Delivering the commissioning work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety (Nuclear, radiological, conventional and environmental) to ensure that safety is optimised during commissioning delivery.
• Reviewing commissioning progress and performance and taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
• Managing day to day liaison with personnel to obtain any necessary permissions and minimize impact to the project.
Knowledge & Experience
• Understands commissioning arrangements in compliance with Nuclear Site Licence Condition 21.
• Has a strong desire to drive for results within their teams/departments.
• Can influence others to improve.
• Can develop and maintain effective relationships and communications with key stakeholders.
• Senior stakeholder management and effective communicator.
• Effective at leading a team.
• Has knowledge or experience in delivering the commissioning work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Can ensure a proactive and balanced approach to safety (nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental) to ensure that safety is optimised during commissioning.
• Can ensure input to other project processes are incorporated, for example, design, HAZOP, risk, contract, estimating and knowledge management.
• Understands the Sellafield gated process.
Essential Skills
• HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in relevant Engineering discipline OR Incorporated Engineer status.
• Experience in directly managing a team delivering engineering or technical work with demonstrable record of success.
Desirable Skills
• Accredited integrated MEng degree or equivalent Level 7 qualification.
• Chartered Engineer status.
