This Privacy statement explains what to expect in relation to personal information collected about you which is handled and processed by Sellafield Ltd Careers.

The information we will collect from you during our application process:

The data you provide is being collected solely for purposes of processing your job application. By completing our online application form you will be consenting that Sellafield Ltd can use your data in this way, for any part or stage of our recruitment processes. This may include (dependent upon job opportunity) supplying your data to an assessment test providers, for example, you may be asked to complete a numerical and verbal aptitude test before your interview, therefore our third-party provider would be required to contact you regarding this. In these circumstances your data will not be transmitted beyond the European Economic Area (EEA) and your data/results will only be used to process the job application in question.

The following personal information is collected and processed if you choose to apply for an employment opportunity at Sellafield Ltd.

Within our Diversity and Equality questionnaire, you will be asked for certain pieces of personal information which are classified as Sensitive Personal Data, as defined in Data Protection Law. If you decide to give us this information as part of your application, it will not be used to process your application in any way, and will not be used within the decision making process in relation to your job application. It will be solely used for human resources reporting purposes, in some instances there may be statutory reporting requirements reinforcing this.

In the above circumstances, when asked for this information you will be able to select ‘prefer not to say’ or similar in relation to these questions. It is your right not to give us this information but use ‘prefer not to say’ instead.

The above information will have been provided by you, or in some cases, by a third party who we partner with such as; a job board website (Example – CV-Library, indeed, Linkedin), or a recruitment agency. In the cases when your information has been supplied from a third party, we will ask for your consent to store your data within our Applicant Tracking System – Lumesse.

Further personal information will be collected if you are successful for an employment opportunity at Sellafield Ltd; all employees at Sellafield Ltd are required to successfully obtain security clearance and complete a medical. This includes:

  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality
  • Place of Birth
  • National Insurance Number
  • Proof of identify – Original documents, usually passport, original birth certificate and driving license will need to be presented to Sellafield Ltd to verify your identify. Copies of these will be required for your security clearance. If you do not have all of the above, Sellafield Ltd will advise on other forms of suitable ID.
  • Your employment / unemployment and education history for the last 3 years.
  • Permission to contact your previous employers/education to verify your history.
  • Time spent overseas – if 6 months or more in the last 3 years.
  • Copies of any work permits or visas if required
  • Outcome of criminal record checks (Disclosure and Barring Service)
  • Outcome/results of medical check
  • Bank details (to pay you directly)

How we will use your personal information:

The above information is used to identify your suitability for an employment opportunity at Sellafield Ltd. The information may be used in the following ways:

  • To understand your right to work in the UK
  • To review your CV / Work history against the job description to understand if you are suitable for an interview
  • To contact you regarding the outcome of your CV review
  • To invite you to complete an aptitude test (your information will be passed to a third-party – see further detail below).
  • To invite you to attend an interview
  • To inform you of the outcome of your interview
  • If successful, to provide you with relevant documents relating to your offer, to begin the security clearance process and medical process.
  • To initiate the security clearance process with Sellafield Ltd Vetting team.
  • To initiate your pre-employment medical with Sellafield Ltd Occupational Health team.
  • To formally offer you a position at Sellafield Ltd (on completion of successful security and medical clearance).

Aptitude Testing / Assessment Test providers:

In some instances candidates are required to complete an aptitude test or assessment test that is relevant to the employment opportunity they have applied for.

Sellafield Ltd will provide your contact details to third-party aptitude test providers (such as, Saville, SHL, Talent Lens) when required in the recruitment process so that the test can be sent directly to you to be completed.

Your data will be removed from the third-party suppliers system within 12 months after your application has reached a complete stage. For example, this would be upon achieving successful status, or being rejected after interview.

Who will view your information?

Your CV, application and related documents will be shared with the prospective hiring manager(s) of the campaign/employment opportunity you have applied against. It will also be viewed by the Sellafield Ltd resourcing team who will process your application and communicate with you throughout each stage of the recruitment process.

Retention of your data

Your data will only be held in accordance with our data retention policy. Please see below our retention periods for your data.

Application form information – The data which you provide in your application and consent to, is stored for a period of no longer than 12 months from the time your application reaches a completed stage. For example, this would be upon achieving successful status, or being rejected after interview.
