CS&A Lead Engineer
Job Description
The role is that of CS&A Lead Engineer for a Major Project. As the BEPP2 Project is inflight and is schedule driven it is essential that the successful candidate has a working knowledge of the functional requirements, processes and plant and equipment in order to minimise the learning curve which otherwise could be detrimental to maintaining successful project delivery.
The candidate will be required to lead a team of CS&A Engineers delivering critical path engineering packages. The role will support the project through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the plant.
Successful role holder will be expected to work effectively at both Risley / Sellafield site, and occasionally at contractors and supplier sites to be effective in delivery of their role and responsibilities.
This is a delivery role that falls within EDLP5. This role requires the candidate to lead and coordinate the definition, implementation and delivery of safe, legally compliant, pragmatic, fit for purpose design solutions that meet functional and business requirements. Knowledge & Experience
• Minimum ONC, preferred MEng or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• Professionally registered with ICE, IStructE or similar CS&A related Professional Institution and demonstrable evidence of being at equivalent to Incorporated Engineer status in relevant discipline (minimum).
• At or approaching Chartered Engineer status with the ICE, IStructE or similar CS&A related Professional Institution (preferred).
• Meeting the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements of their Professional Institution.
• Checking and Approval of Work EL0223.
• Sellafield Gated Process eLearning EL0046.
Essential Skills
• Demonstrable engineering experience working in roles in a highly regulated environment where knowledge of engineering is a key attribute.
• Demonstrable experience of delivering significant CS&A scope through various project phases.
• Demonstrable evidence of managing the production of deliverables to time, cost and quality requirements.
• Demonstrable evidence of Team leadership and experience of having personal responsibility for decisions involving resources and their consequences.
• Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with the supply chain to deliver successful projects and work packages.
• Considerable knowledge of CS&A discipline and its application to nuclear projects to solve problems and deliver innovative solutions.
• Thorough understanding of the importance of nuclear safety and security and able to identify key nuclear hazards and articulate methods of managing these.
• Knowledge of governing laws, key regulations and standards for the nuclear industry – strong knowledge of duties of role holders under CDM Regulations.
• Good commercial awareness.
Desirable Skills
• Experience working on major projects on Sellafield site.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience of producing engineering substantiation documentation in support of Engineering Schedules.
• Good working knowledge of BIM ,3d design tools and CAE systems as appropriate to delivery of complex designs.

During the interview, you will also be expected to give a 10 minute presentation on
‘Discuss the role of a CS&A Professional in ensuring safety and security of nuclear facilities during all project phases’
