Emergency Response Manager
Job Description
Ensuring efficient organisation of the operational arm of Sellafield Fire and Rescue Services (SF&RS) by implementing standards within SF&RS for emergency response and ensuring appropriate staffing and maintenance of skills within SF&RS to enable reliable service delivery.
Principal Accountabilities
• Management and leadership of the SF&RS operational function to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery.
• To ensure that all aspects of SF&RS operations are carried out safely and are compliant with Sellafield Ltd Management System and relevant legislation.
• To provide oversight of Learning and Development to ensure a cost-effective and resilient learning and development plan is in place to support maintenance of SF&RS skills.
• The provision of suitable training for all members of the SF&RS to National and Sellafield Ltd standards.
• Regular liaison with key stakeholders.
• To ensure appropriate Superintendent Officer duties are in place where required.
• Where required to manage the SF&R budget to ensure accurate forecasting and control of spends.
• To deputise for the Senior S&R Manager (Emergency Response) as and when required.
• Accountable to the Senior S&R Manager (Emergency Response) for the safe and compliant operations of the SF&RS under their control during emergencies.
Essential Skills
• Degree (min 2:2) in relevant discipline or equivalent, a relevant recognised professional qualification, where appropriate together with significant amount of relevant experience in a leadership role within Fire and Rescue.
• Chartership or equivalent in a professional body or equivalent level of experience.
• Incident Command Level 2 qualification.
• For internal candidates, suitable relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications, where appropriate.
• Experience of leading, manage and develop a team to provide technical leadership.
• Knowledge and experience of blue light response matters.
• Ability to wield influence over internal/external stakeholders.
• Knowledgeable in S&R on external issues (legislative, regulatory, best practice standards etc).
Authorities & Dimensions
• Acts as the Senior S&R Manager’s (Emergency Response) Nominated Representative.
• The Emergency Response Manager is authorised to suspend any activity which appears to be unsafe, or not in accordance with approved programs or procedures.
• The Emergency Response Manager is authorised to order emergency actions to be taken to prevent or mitigate the release of radioactive or hazardous materials to employees, the public, or environment and to prevent equipment damage.
