Security Warden Team Leader
Job Description
The Security Warden Team Leader is responsible for the provision of a professional security service across site with competent trained Security Wardens in that they are security cleared and trained in fundamental Security, Safety and Regulatory requirements, deriving from the Site Licence, Nuclear Industries Security Regulations (NISR) 2003 and Nuclear Site Security Plan (NSSP) so that they operate in a safe and secure manner.
Authorities & Dimensions:
• The Security Warden Team Leader is authorised to suspend or cancel any operations that are deemed to be un-secure or breach security regulations in accordance with NISR 2003.
• Direct Line Manger for a team of up to 15 and can be operationally responsible for up to 22 Security Wardens during core hours.
• Key custodian responsible for site wide key control (including CNC emergency keys) and supervision with the authority to add, amend or remove keys.
Principal Accountabilities
• Provide control and supervision of a team: planning, scheduling, organising, directing, and controlling work activities to deliver a security service.
• Provide oversight and assessment of all operational security activities and escalate potential security issues.
• Identification of resource requirements in accordance with plant demands to ensure peak workloads and projects are resourced accordingly and aid in the easy flow of work on site.
• Create and maintain Operating Instructions and Working Instructions following the document control process.
• Manage, maintain and apply assurance checks to the site wide security furniture database to ensure all custodians (approximately 200) remain compliant with NISR 2003 regulations. This includes acting as the custodian for all Inner Area Control Points (IACPs) and CAT 1 security cabinets in various facilities across the site.
• Ensures authorised key holders records are up to date and custodians are aware of combination changes.
• Ensure that CAT 1 facility alarm checks and carried out and rescheduled as required in accordance with the relevant Operating Instructions to ensure compliance with NISR 2003 and the NSSP.
• Be aware of plant projects and maintain good working relationships with various internal/external stakeholders, ie ONR, plant managers, Security Liaison Officers, Protective Security Advisors, Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC), Civilian Guard Force (CGF), Integrated Work Management.
• Provide advice, guidance and key information to assist with Temporary Security Plans and the planning of emergency exercises to maintain regulatory compliance.
• To deliver significant and sustained business improvements within security service by promoting, encouraging and leading improvement processes.
• Carry out/initiate regulatory investigations as required.
• Identify Security Warden training and development requirements and carry out an assessment of competence to ensure all Security Wardens are trained to the required level and able to provide the service required.
• Produce reports to inform stakeholders about key security operational activities.
Essential Skills
• Minimum of 3 GCSEs Grade 4 (Grade C) in Mathematics, English and Science. NB: Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (Grade C).
• Experience of working in a security environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio etc).
• Good communications skills.
• Self-motivated with high levels of drive and energy.
• SONO or TLAC qualified or experience of leading teams.
• Ability to coach and mentor team members.
• Be capable of identify and implementing local improvements within their area of work.
• Radiological Worker Status or ability to achieve.
• DV Cleared or ability to achieve (high levels of integrity, values and trustworthiness).
• Ability to be included on the Atomic List to ensure maintenance of Confidential Document Records (CDR).
• Must have a full, clean manual UK driving licence and the potential ability to gain additional driving qualifications.
Desirable Skills
• Ability to utilise a wide range of interpersonal skills across all levels (eg, patience, motivation, collaboration etc).
• Understanding of the key principles of Security and Resilience and how it impacts on other areas of site.
• Knowledge and understanding of Sellafield Site layout and key facilities.
• Knowledge and understanding of SEMS topic area 2.01 Security.
