To provide authoritative, professional Health & Safety (H&S) advice and support in one or more H&S domains (e.g. radiological safety, fire protection, occupational hygiene, conventional H&S). The Safety Specialist plays a key role in shaping, implementing, and assuring H&S policies, procedures, and programmes, while actively supporting operational delivery, promoting a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. Safety Policy & System Leadership: Lead the definition, development, and continuous improvement of safety policies, standards, and management system arrangements tailored to Sellafield Ltd operations. Ensure these are compliant with relevant legislation, align with regulatory expectations and industry standards, and proportionate to operational risk - with a clear focus on protecting employee health and safety. Expert Safety Advisory: Act as a company Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more specialist safety domains, providing authoritative advice to enable delivery of the SL Operating plan. Identify and assess workplace hazards and risks, and recommend proportionate control measures to support safe, compliant operations. Assurance & Compliance Oversight: Lead and support assurance activities - including inspections, audits, observations, and reviews - to verify compliance with H&S requirements and behaviours. Provide oversight of the safety management system to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented in the workplace.
