MTE (Measurement and Test Equipment) Calibrator

Starting Salary: £38,964 – £42,339 dependent on skills & experience + an annual bonus of up to £4k.
Working Pattern: Days (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria
What will the Successful Candidate be Doing:
1. Role Purpose
The role of the calibrator is to calibrate MTE instruments and associated equipment to confirm the correct operation in line with their specification.
2. Deliverables
• Provide on demand calibration of MTE utilising their knowledge and experience of specialist calibration standards with associated approved procedures and instructions.
• Calibrating MTE to defined set points, tolerances, and uncertainties, to support safe and reliable nuclear plant operations and maintenance.
• Authorise a signed certificate of calibration for equipment that has passed calibration with an associated recalibration date to ensure an auditable trail of maintenance.
• Record an effective calibration history, and as signatory take legal responsibility for all calibration activities completed in accordance with site procedures to ensure Site Licence regulations are met.
• Flag to the plant CERP (Calibration Equipment Responsible Person) any MTE which has failed calibration for them to assess the plant impact of the failure.
• Analyse, diagnose and carry out minor repairs and/or adjustments to failed MTE used on safety mechanisms and safety related equipment, to enable safe and reliable nuclear plant operations.
• Use own knowledge, skill, and engineering judgement to safely progress work, referring to a line manager or a relevant Subject Matter Expert (SME) only to resolve issues.
Knowledge & Experience
• The applicant must have knowledge from and E&I or Mechanical background.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• Successful completion of a recognised craft apprenticeship.

Essential Skills
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• Successful completion of a recognised craft apprenticeship.
• Computer literate with experience in using Microsoft office products.
• Experience in a service delivery environment.
• A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
• Able to deliver work to high standards using written instructions.
