Job Description

A People Operations Consultant provides comprehensive HR support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices. The job acts as a key point of contact for managers and employees, supporting operational HR activities and contributing to strategic HR initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provide guidance and support on disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance issues. Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies.
• Support recruitment processes including job postings, interviews, and onboarding of new employees.
• Assist in the implementation and monitoring of performance appraisal systems. Support managers in addressing performance concerns.
• Ensure HR policies are up-to-date and compliant with employment legislation. Communicate changes effectively across the organisation.
• Support succession and career development planning.
• Support organisational change initiatives including organisational design and development as required.

While core accountabilities remain consistent, specific focus areas may vary depending on business needs and organisational context.

Authorities & Dimensions:

• Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR matters.
• Escalate complex or high-risk issues to Specialists or legal advisors.
• Recommend improvements to HR processes and practices.
• Support investigations and formal HR procedures under guidance.

Essential Skills

• Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma or equivalent experience.
• CIPD Associate Accreditation or willingness to work towards.
• Good understanding of HR practices and employment law.
• Experience in a generalist/administrative HR role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of trade unions.
