Be outstanding in your Sellafield

As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice you will work alongside experienced professionals to provide technology enabled solutions to internal customers, in a range of areas including software, business and systems analysis, cyber security, data analysis and network infrastructure.

You will implement technology solutions that enable the business to increase productivity, improve processes and enable the successful completion of the company’s mission. You will become a confident, competent, and capable independent Technology Solutions Professional able to operate in a range of related roles.

  • This four-year Degree Apprenticeship combines on-the-job learning and placements across digital and technology areas like Geospatial, Operational Research, and Asset Information Systems and Applications, with a final 12-month placement.

    You’ll earn a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions. Progress is assessed via government standards, evidence folders, and a final independent review to demonstrate your professional capabilities.

  • You will undertake placements based on either the Sellafield site or one of our various satellite offices in West Cumbria with one day a week to complete your off the job learning.

    • BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions
  • Degree apprenticeships target A-Level students or equivalents. Entry requirements include:

    • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C), including Maths, English Language, and one Science or Engineering subject.
    • At least 96 UCAS points – All A-Level subjects considered
    • Other Level 3 or Vocational qualifications may be accepted.
    • Functional Skills Level 2 is considered to be equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C).

  • Candidates will be required to achieve appropriate security and medical clearances; these will be instigated on receiving a conditional offer of employment.

What inspired you to choose this scheme?

I was drawn to the scheme because it’s well-established and part of a large-scale organisation, which gave me confidence in the long-term career opportunities and job security it could offer.

How did your studies play a role in choosing this particular programme?

Studying business and IT at sixth form naturally led me toward roles with a strong IT focus, and this programme felt like the perfect fit to build on those interests.

What key skills have you developed during your time at Sellafield?

I’ve grown significantly in confidence, especially when it comes to speaking up and making decisions — thanks to the meetings and projects I’ve been trusted to contribute to.
