Learn more about our Business Improvements work experience programme available in West Cumbria.

Do you often find yourself asking WHY? Why is this so hard? Why does it take so long? Why is it so risky? Why is it so expensive?

Would you like to improve your problem-solving skills and gain an internationally recognised Business Improvement qualification during your Work Experience week? If yes, we’d love to hear from you!

We are working hard to inspire, support and empower each and every individual in our workforce to constantly look for better ways to do things, to make things easier, quicker, safer and cheaper, and in doing so, deliver our mission of “Creating a Clean and Safe Environment for Future Generations” as effectively and efficiently as possible.

We are a team of Business Improvement Practitioners and Apprentices (Business Administration, Project Management and Digital) with varied career backgrounds and experiences.

During your work experience week, you will: –

  1. Learn about where Sellafield has come from and what our future looks like.
  2. Gain an appreciation of why Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement are so critical for all industries, including Nuclear, in this ever-changing world.
  3. Learn about the 5 Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement.
  4. Consolidate your learning through practical application on both Sellafield premises and when visiting another Whitehaven-based business with us.
  5. Gain an internationally recognised business improvement qualification.
  6. Get involved with the varied and challenging work delivered by our team.
  7. Have the opportunity to get our Apprentices’ perspectives (and that of their peers) on what life is like as a Sellafield Apprentice.

Whilst you are with us, we will support you in further developing some of the essential skills required for your future career success including but not limited to: – creativity and problem solving; adapting and planning; teamwork and leadership; and effective communication.

We look forward to welcoming you into our team!
