Job Description The role is that of CS&A Architectural Design Capability Lead. This is a Design Capability role in a technical specialist area to lead a Design Capability team which will work in line with the business needs to set the standards for engineering practice for Architecture. The role holder will deliver expert advice and guidance, and develop knowledge and techniques needed to support Sellafield Ltd. The candidate will be required to lead a team of CS&A Architectswith responsibility for: • Delivering engineering packages. • Ensuring that the appropriate engineering design processes are developed and maintained in their specialist area. • Establishing, developing, maintaining and promoting the use of technologies and equipment and to encourage the appropriate use of technologies and equipment based upon relevant good practice. • Promoting and supporting improvements across the business based on the identification, Development and appropriate use of innovative designs, processes, tools and equipment across the organisation. • Agreeing the Engineering Design assurance activities for architectural scope with projects, ensuring that results are reviewed and trended to maintain governance over the quality of the engineering design solutions produced by the Engineering Design teams. , • Guiding the development of suitable and sufficient fit-for-purpose design solutions within the Architectural discipline. • Providing consultancy support, advice and guidance on Architectural scope. • Providing specialist Design Engineering support to the business to ensure that design engineering related risks are identified, and mitigation plans developed by the project teams. • Developing and creating company engineering standards relevant to their specialist area. • Provide oversight and support to maintaining SQEP architectural resource across Engineering Design. Principal Accountabilities The role will support projects through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Successful role holder will be expected to work effectively at both Risley / Sellafield site, and occasionally at contractors and supplier sites to be effective in delivery of their role and responsibilities. This is a delivery role that falls within EDLP7.This role requires the candidate to lead and coordinate the definition, implementation and delivery of safe, legally compliant, pragmatic, fit for purpose design solutions that meet functional and business requirements. Knowledge & Experience • MA/MArch or equivalent in relevant discipline. • Chartered status with RIBA or similar CS&A related Professional Institution. • Actively pursuing Fellowship of relevant discipline Professional Institution. • Meeting the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements of their Professional Institution. Essential Skills • Demonstrable experience working in roles where knowledge of architecture is a key attribute. • Demonstrable experience working within a highly regulated and quality assured system in roles where professional engineering judgement is the key attribute. • Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively to deliver successful projects and work packages. • Extensive national and company technology networks, and a recognised company and national authority within the architectural discipline. • Demonstrable experience of mitigating technical risks and drives business improvements through innovation and research. • Demonstrable engineering experience working in roles in a highly regulated environment where knowledge of engineering is a key attribute. • Extensive knowledge of Architectural subject and its application within nuclear projects. • Theoretical knowledge to solve problems in new related technologies. • Knowledge of SL plants and SEMS processes relevant to the Architectural area. • Comprehensive and detailed understanding of legislation, regulations and standards relevant to Architecture. Desirable Skills • Demonstrable experience working on major projects on Sellafield site. • Demonstrable experience delivering tasks / small projects in support of operational facilities at Sellafield site. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrable experience of producing Planning and Building Control documentation and working with SL Development Control. • Good working knowledge of BIM ,3d design tools and CAE systems as appropriate to delivery of complex designs. • Demonstrable experience of providing support, coaching and guidance to early careers individuals.
