Job Description This opportunity is for an existing Band 4B Health Physics Team Leader or a development opportunity for a Health Physics ATL for approximately 6 months pending the outcome of successful post filling options. The role holder reports to the Dosimetry Services Manager and will lead the delivery of the External Dosimetry Service, managing the Dosimetry Support Team. In the event of multiple suitable candidates, a selection will be made based on application evidence, end of year performance rating and a discussion with the Dosimetry Services Manager. Please provide a covering letter describing why you feel you have the experience and suitability to carry out this role to Karen Peterson Principal Accountabilities • Lead the delivery of Whole Body, Extremity, and Neutron Dosimetry services to ensure accurate dose monitoring, data integrity and regulatory compliance. • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Static Air Sampling system and PAD inventory to support effective airborne contamination monitoring. • Investigate radiation-related incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that enhance safety and prevent recurrence. • Provide frontline dosimetry advice to operational teams to support informed decision-making and radiological protection. • Ensure operability and maintenance of dosimetry equipment and availability of dosimeters and consumables within budget and required timescales to support uninterrupted service delivery. • Validate and update procedures and work instructions to ensure they remain compliant, effective, and fit for purpose. • Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for the calibration of Electronic Personal Dosemeters (EPDs) to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance. • Coordinate the compliant dispatch of dosimetry equipment to off-site facilities as the Local Clearance Coordinator (LCC). • Manage team workload, staffing levels, and training compliance to maintain service capability and meet operational and emergency demands. • Drive efficiency, quality and continuous improvement initiatives by applying benchmarking, learning from experience (LFE), and quality improvement tools. Knowledge & Experience Essential Skills The successful candidate will have the ability to plan and manage multiple work flows effectively and prioritise appropriately so statutory obligations are met, and customer services are maintained. The ability to drive improvements and be an advocate for change. Good IT skills with ability to retrieve, collate, manipulate, and distribute electronic data between and within multiple operating systems. They will have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of customers, peers and stakeholders.
