Job Purpose

Responsible for provision of an Engineering & Maintenance service for the Retrievals Value Stream, which comprises of the Legacy Pond & Silo Plants, East River Encapsulation Plants and several new facilities that are being brought into operation over the next few years. The Role requires strong and effective leadership of multiple plant facing Maintenance and Plant Engineer teams, with a specific focus on enabling safe and consistent retrieval operations whilst ensuring teams comply and deliver Site Licence Condition and Legislative obligations.

Deliverables

• Collaborate with Engineering Reliability Manager to deliver engineering strategic options to enable the efficient delivery of business objectives.
• Responsible for compliance with appropriate regulations, standards and policies and carries responsibility for safety, cost and quality standards for their teams.
• Develop and sustain multi-disciplined teams that are able to respond to asset failures with fit for purpose engineering and maintenance solutions to reduce Mean Time to Repair.
• Responsible for implementing and delivering asset strategies for allocated assets.
• Develop and deliver strategic plans for their area aligning appropriate resources to contribute to the delivery of the wider enterprise mission.
• Influence senior internal and external stakeholders/customers to ensure integration which leads to the effective delivery of key engineering and maintenance activities to support strategic objectives
• Act as an official representative of Engineering and Maintenance, representing the organisation at external events and to regulators to enable knowledge share.
• Manage personal development, aspirations, performance and work scope of the direct reportees to ensure a high performing cohesive team.
• Develop and implement medium and long-term workforce plans and take required action to develop appropriate engineering and maintenance capability to meet objectives.
• Keep up to date with changes within internal and external industry as well as any political changes which could impact upon workforce needs, taking action as required to mitigate and manage risks to capability.
• Responsible for compliance with all appropriate Risk Assessment Cases, Legal Obligations and Relevant Good Practice.
• Oversea budgetary and cost-effective delivery of engineering and maintenance solutions.
• Oversee the provision of maintenance services to internal/external customers to agreed safety and quality standards.
• Oversees the measure on condition across all assets that are in their scope, but not covered by Reliability Engineering.
• Work in partnership with Operations and Engineering Reliability colleagues to drive improvements in work delivery and plant availability/reliability.

Principle Accountabilities

Knowledge & Experience

• Higher level qualification OR equivalent training/experience in a relevant engineering discipline
• Significant engineering and maintenance experience, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility
• Excellent people leadership skills and experience of team management.

Essential Skills

• Strong Nuclear Safety focus and application of Nuclear Professionalism Standards & Expectations and Manifesto behaviours
• Demonstrable experience of managing engineering & maintenance services for multiple plant areas and customers
• Detailed Knowledge of Maintenance processes, procedures, site licence and legislative obligations
• Experience of managing change and plant transitions and mobility of people/teams to new missions
• Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement, improving plant performance and MTTR.

Desirable Skills

• Previous Retrievals experience/knowledge
• Working level understanding of Safety case compliance/knowledge
• Experience of Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement Tools and Techniques
• Experience of legacy facilities, plant production and new/old plant equipment interfaces preferable.

During the interview, you will also be expected to give a 10 minute presentation on –
‘How would you deliver more outcomes in E&M to support sustained retrievals operations.’

Campaign Approach

A new campaign approach is being rolled out to support the timely delivery of current and future post filling requirements, this will enable immediate vacancies to be filled along with building a holding pool for consideration against future vacancies.
