Job Description Job purpose: Lead a team of equipment service engineers and /or craft persons (dependant on specific team) responsible for an assigned group of assets to ensure that the maintenance and operation of the system(s) are performed and managed safely in accordance with Site Licence Conditions and other pertinent regulations. Principle Accountabilities • Set standards for Plant Engineering and Maintenance practices relevant to their discipline. Produces SLPs/SLSPs as required to establish the formal requirements for SL personnel to meet the various commitments and obligations placed by legislation, site licence, stakeholder expectations, etc. • Define the tier 1 & 2 assurance arrangements to ensure procedures have been correctly implemented and are effective. Reviewing the outputs of assurance activities and take appropriate corrective action based on findings. • Drive continuous improvements for Operational Technology Group (OTG), review and amend process and procedures in line with assurance findings, industry best practice and customer feedback. • Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation, standards & best practice in the relevant discipline. Providing advice and guidance to the engineering/maintenance community. • Support production of and formally endorse generic Technical Basis of Maintenance (TBoM) assessments. • Lead, direct and motivate a team of Technical Specialists and Engineers to support the effective management and maintenance of PES Assets across the Sellafield estate. • Lead identification of system pertinent problems (especially recurring issues) and co-ordinate appropriate corrective maintenance actions as required. • Contribute to and deliver operational/department plans for facilities, site areas and SES programs ensuring appropriate resources are managed to enable the delivery of the wider enterprise missions. • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/customers to ensure integration which leads to the effective delivery of key engineering and maintenance activities to support strategic objectives. • Manage the motivation, personal development, and performance of direct reports to ensure a high performing and cohesive team. • Lead and/or support internal investigations to identify root cause and share learning from experience to ensure best practice and understanding. • Coach and mentor others in and across Specialist Equipment Services (SES) to capture knowledge and develop future capability. Knowledge & Experience • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in a relevant engineering discipline. • Chartered status or potential to achieve chartered status through an accredited professional institute. • Demonstrable understanding of PES Technology Quality Management Arrangements and ability to convey to others both within OTG and other interested parties (internal/external) Essential Skills • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in a relevant engineering discipline, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility. • Comprehensive understanding of programmable electronic systems (PES) procedural arrangements. • Knowledge of IEC61508 and other legislation relevant to Industrial Control Systems (ICS). • Ability to provide advice and guidance to all levels of the organisation Demonstrable ability of promoting and implementing changes and improvements at all levels (Individual, Team and Organisation). • Proven experience of positive interaction and engagement with Regulators. • Ability to direct others to deliver solutions to complex technical/procedural issues relating to operational technology (OT). • Demonstrable knowledge/ experience in people leadership skills and individual development. • Demonstrable evidence of holding people to account and delivering within a regulated environment using formal processes. Desirable Skills • Chartered status or potential to achieve chartered status through an accredited professional institute. • Demonstratable understanding of UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence and Commitment (UK-SPEC). fourth addition. • Engineering experience, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility within a PES & OT environment. • Regarded as a subject matter expert in ICS. • Ability to clearly articulate PES procedural and technical arrangements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
