Job Description Role Purpose: To manage a team supplying specialist Engineering Support services to Engineering and Maintenance (E&M) through the use of appropriate technology and systems. Using Continuous Improvement methodology to drive the business forward and enable more informed data driven decision making. Principle Accountabilities Deliverables: • Promote and support overall nuclear safety (along with all other areas of safety – conventional, industrial, radiological, environmental) by maintaining a safe operating envelope through ensuring all work activities are to site standards, policies, processes, and procedures. • Manage the motivation, personal development and performance of direct reports to ensure a high performing and cohesive team, ensuring that all Engineering Support have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out tasks and responsibilities efficiently, effectively and safely through successful completion of relevant training. • Liaise with internal customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities to manage overall work schedules, resource planning and plant requirements. • Oversee the medium to long term resource needs and develop workforce plans accordingly to ensure the right resources are in the right places to deliver required work and improve efficiency. • Undertake inspections, observations and assurance activities to identify and highlight performance gaps within E&M, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of issues, including escalation of significant concerns to Senior Management. • Demonstrable evidence of Identifying, facilitating and leading E&M improvement programmes at local business unit level to support delivery of site improvement programmes. Ensure Learning from Experience (LFE) is disseminated and acted upon. • Demonstrable evidence of providing independent challenge and advice on delivery approach and performance, providing an independent view to support informed and timely decision making. • Actively coach, mentor and manage the Engineering Support community to assist in knowledge transfer and strengthening of the engineering support capability. • Contribute to the continuous improvement programme and the governance and control framework to ensure safe delivery of engineering activities against defined standards, company objectives and key performance indicators. • Demonstrable evidence of driving standards and efficiency during delivery of activities, ensuring delivery issues are resolved. Meet customer, process owner, and business expectations, maintaining strong working relationships across all levels of the business. • In addition to the above role holders are expected to fulfil other duties and tasks that are commensurate with their grade assigned to them by management to ensure efficient engineering & maintenance delivery and the success of the team/organisation. Knowledge & Experience • Experience in an Engineering and Maintenance role, ideally previous experience in Engineering Support B4B role would be desirable. • Knowledge of Safety Case structure or processes associated with the role (Including Configuration Management processes ). Essential Skills • Demonstrable experience of resilience and communication skills to be able to interact with all levels of the organisation (both internal and external to Sellafield). • Demonstrable experience of delivering configuration baseline re-configuration activities including but not limited to identifying and addressing configuration baseline gaps on legacy assets and facilities. • Demonstrable experience of analytical skills with knowledge of problem solving tools within an operational environment to address maintenance and short term asset reliability. • Can demonstrate ability to plan work in their area, focussing on the medium term and ensuring alignment with immediate objectives. • Demonstrable experience of delivering change to improve existing processes locally. • Demonstrable evidence of effectively managing a team to deliver accuracy, quality and attention to detail tactically to support operational priorities. Desirable Skills • Demonstrable knowledge and experience off applying the schedule change process and Plant Maintenance Schedule (PMS) data into CMMS. • Provide examples of demonstrating an understanding of company policies and procedures, including SLMS 1.06 Plant Engineering, Asset Management and Equipment Reliability and 1.08 Maintenance and Task Delivery. • Demonstrable l knowledge of Engineering Information Systems (M3, Qlikview). • Experience of coaching individuals on configuration management processes.
