Job Description To serve as the lead contact for all quality-related matters within the Sellafield Enterprise Management System (SEMS) Programme Workstreams. The role ensures that quality services and advice are effectively delivered, and that all activities are defined, planned, and executed in line with the Sellafield Ltd (SL) quality policy, SEMS strategy and Management System arrangements and standards. The Quality Manager champions a culture of safe and predictable delivery through quality assurance, and continuous improvement. A key part of the role is supporting quality programme delivery through working collaboratively with the different delivery workstream, process community, supply chain and programme team to ensure alignment and coordination of approaches. Through ongoing engagement with the workstreams the Programme Integrators primary responsibility is to ensure that all scope being delivered through the various programme workstreams is fully aligned, ensuring key dependencies and interactions are clear and managed accordingly to mitigate delivery risks or delays. Principal Accountabilities Establishing quality standards and management systems: • Establish and maintain management systems aligned to prevailing obligations and stakeholder expectations, to enable the effective delivery of business objectives. • Promote the effective application of quality management systems within SL and the supply chain, and ensure quality standards are effectively communicated and implemented. • Lead the integration and alignment of programme delivery across the various programme workstreams and across multiple different delivery modes and supply chain partners. Enhancing culture and focus for Quality: • Strengthen the quality culture by engaging with workstreams, delivering targeted education and training, and ensuring visibility of quality in the field, to build understanding and leadership for quality. • Develop local plans and schedules across the workstreams, translating the SEMS Strategy into specific actionable quality objectives, with consideration of context, risks and opportunities. • Promote early engagement and collaboration, a maintaining active dialogue across workstreams and external stakeholders (including regulators) to ensure quality remains central to decision-making. • Support the Business Change Manager with the alignment, tracking and reporting of SEMS enabled benefits from workstream delivery. • Support programme stakeholder engagement through interfacing with key stakeholders across multiple delivery areas and building key relationships with stakeholders, customers and Process Owners/ SMEs to support effective collaboration. Mobilising Quality advice and services: • Deploy quality advice and services across area(s) of responsibility, including ‘bought in’ SEMS supply chain resources and other internal resource partners (i.e. ISO), to enable right-first-time (RFT) delivery. • Ensure that intelligent customer responsibilities are fulfilled for SEMS, throughout the procurement lifecycle, to minimise the risks of poor supply chain quality performance. This includes ensuring specified requirements are effectively disseminated, contributing to tender evaluations and contract opening up meetings, and reviewing contractor(s) arrangements. Applying quality assurance and control: • Implement risk-based quality assurance and control to confirm that SEMS products, outputs and deliverables meet specified requirements, and take action when non-conformances arise. • Oversee delivery of quality across the SEMS workstreams, acting as the point of escalation for quality and delivery issues and working with customers and stakeholders to identify and implement effective solutions / improvements. • Ensure quality records are compiled and managed in compliance with legal and contractual obligations. • Support SEMS risk management by working collaboratively with Process Owners and delivery teams to effectively identify, manage, and mitigate emerging programme risks, issues, and opportunities arising from within or across programme workstreams. Providing assurance and oversight: • Establish risk-based assurance programmes (both internal and SEMS supply chain) and key health measures to monitor performance, identify deviations, and drive improvement. • Escalate significant quality issues to senior management SEMS governance process, and support management reviews to inform decisions on corrective actions and improvements. Driving continuous improvement: • Lead and embed improvements to workstream delivery that address risks, opportunities and business context to deliver tangible business value. • Lead the collation, sharing, and utilisation of learning from experience across programme workstreams, partner organisations and key stakeholders. Essential Skills • Relevant professional qualification, such as a degree in quality management, or Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or similar is expected, though substantial experience may offset lower-level qualifications. • Experience in quality or closely related roles, ideally within regulated and technically complex environments. • Proven leadership capability, including facilitating cross-functional groups to deliver improvements and strategic initiatives. • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust, influence stakeholders at all levels, and drive alignment on quality objectives across diverse teams. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear articulation of quality expectations, performance, and improvement plans to technical and non-technical audiences. • Deep understanding of quality management systems, with hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and continuously improving standards • Performance monitoring experience providing assurance and oversight, using KPIs and metrics to assess quality outcomes, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions and improvement programmes. Desirable Skills • Commercial and supply chain awareness, with experience fulfilling intelligent customer responsibilities and managing supplier quality performance. • Experience managing projects or workstreams. • Experience in conducting assurance or audit activities. • Knowledge and /or experience of quality inspection techniques.
