Job Description

The Senior People Consultant acts as a strategic liaison between the People Function and Enterprise areas , ensuring alignment of people strategies with organisational goals.

Principal Accountabilities

• Lead and participate in year cyclical people-related activities.
• Advise managers on complex employee relations issues.
• Facilitate and support organisational design processes.
• Implement workforce planning and talent management initiatives.
• Support change management and organisational development activities.
• Analyse and present people metrics to inform decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with employment law and internal policies.
• Coach line managers on core people processes, instilling people management best practice to drive enhanced line manager capability, and escalating concerns, demand or opportunities.

Authorities & Dimensions:

• No budget responsibility unless managing people related budgets for a team.
• The job will influence and guide budget holders’ decisions relating to people-related cost effectiveness.
• The job may operate within a single Enterprise area or multiple areas.

Essential Skills

• Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma / Foundation or Undergraduate Degree in a related field or equivalent experience • CIPD Associate Accreditation or willingness to work towards.
• Knowledge and experience in Senior level human resource practices.
• Ability to apply commercial awareness / business acumen to strengthen business partnering capability.
• Organisational design methodology and practice.
• Strong understanding of HR principles, employment law and best practices.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in HR information systems and reporting.
• Demonstrable experience of leading change initiatives.
• Experience of working in a trade union environment, developing and maintaining strong, collaborative trade union relationships.

Desirable Skills

• Coaching and mentoring training, experience, or qualifications.
• Leadership development tools / techniques training or qualifications.
