Job Description

To lead the delivery of Process Engineering design solutions that meet functional and business requirements.
Individuals within this Engineering Design Level will be performing a Senior Design Engineer 1 job within a business area. The delivery roles appropriate at this EDL are Responsible Process Engineer I or Process Design Lead Engineer II.

Principal Accountabilities

For responsibilities, accountabilities and authorities refer to the relevant R2A2 namely ED21 or 22.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Skills

• Graduate (minimum BEng, preferred MEng) or equivalent in Chemical Engineering.
• Able to demonstrate ownership of a personal CPD plan with identified actions to close any gaps (e.g. towards Chartership).
• Experience of developing professional staff or developing engineering design / technologies.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of working in roles in a highly regulated environment where knowledge has been applied to successfully deliver engineering design solutions.
• Design experience and understanding how engineering solutions fit into the wider project value stream.
• Technical responsibility for the design of complex, fit-for-purpose engineering systems.
• Demonstrable track record of delivering to time, cost and quality requirements.
• Experience of managing engineers.
• Experience of having personal responsibility for decisions involving resources and their consequences.
• Experience of working collaboratively with the supply chain to deliver successful projects and work packages.
•Specific engineering discipline and its application within nuclear projects.
• Problem solving techniques to inform design decisions.
• Organisational awareness of other engineering disciplines and their role within engineering delivery.
• Able to identify key process hazards and articulate methods of managing these.
• Understanding of the principles of good project delivery and experience using these to ensure projects meet business and functional requirements.
• Professional standards and expectations, utilising these in day-to-day decision making.
• Good commercial awareness of large organisations and collaboration with supply chain partners.
