Hear from the Team:

“What I enjoy most about my role is the variety. One day I’m interpreting complex data and solving problems, and the next I’m translating fundamental chemistry into practical, real world solutions. Working alongside specialists from a wide range of backgrounds provides unique insight and collaboration. I also have the opportunity to help develop the next generation of nuclear experts, which is incredibly rewarding. Above all I love knowing that fundamental chemistry is shaping real life outcomes that truly matter.”
Dr Hayley Green, SNM Science Manager

“What I value most in my role is the people I work with and the opportunity to keep learning. I enjoy being part of a supportive team that encourages continued professional development and shared learning. Seeing the outcomes of my work and understanding how my input contributes to the final decision making process is highly motivating. Through my PhD, I gained the skills to confidently apply my chemistry background to complex problems with confidence and clarity. My role has been fundamental in supporting my transition from academia into industry, where I am at the forefront of challenging scientific work.”
Dr Blake Kesic, Technical Support

“What I enjoy most about my role is being able to continually build on and apply my knowledge to complex technical problems. In a short time, I’ve gained exposure to a range of projects across different scientific areas, while directly applying the materials expertise from my PhD to challenges in nuclear material management that underpin operations. Another exciting aspect is getting involved in guiding current R&D, through supply chain and academia (with current researchers like my past self), from the industrial side. This has helped in making the transition to industry. Contributing to diverse research projects that support inspections and material storage keeps the role engaging, and I’ve appreciated the warm welcome within SNM and the strong encouragement for professional development from day one.”
