Job Description

Responsible for the management of the Engineering and Maintenance Task team and the safe delivery of a portfolio of asset care Tasks/projects for plants and facilities on the Sellafield Site.

Principle Accountabilities

• Responsible for the Engineering and Maintenance Task Team, comprising a team of 30-40 Managers and Task Engineers. This includes setting strategic focus and direction, goal setting, day to day line management, maintaining team competency/capability and upkeep of key appointments e.g. CDM nominations.
• Accountable for the effective management and delivery of a portfolio of 130-160 Tasks (Projects with an individual value of up to £1 million) through the entire project lifecycle e.g. Scoping & Planning, Design, Commercial, Construction and Close Out.
• Accountable for the financial management, oversight and compliance of the Engineering and Maintenance Asset care budget of £14 – £20 million, with the explicit focus of ensuring value for money is achieved and demonstrated through measures and metrics to the Head of Site Wide Services and the Chief Engineer.
• Accountable for Task Delivery Processes, procedures, legislative and commercial compliance for all elements of the project lifecycle, ensuring safe and effective solution are delivered for plants and facilities on a Nuclear Licensed Site.
• Support Site Framework partnerships and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with Framework contractors.
• Accountable for the effective oversight and management of Plant Modification Proposals (PMP) associated with all works, ensuring safe and timely completion of works and close out of PMPs.
• Establishing and maintaining effective loss logging for task/project delays and developing a continuous improvement plan in partnership with Operations and Engineering colleagues to drive improvements.
• Accountable for effective implementation of the Site Asset Care process, specifically in determining allocation of funding and priority of asset care work in collaboration with Site Value Streams.
• Accountable for completion of all elements of the site annual asset care/funding process, specifically prioritisation of worklists via Plant Health Committees and Sentencing Boards, obtaining funding and sanction of work, planning and co-ordinating all works and providing oversight to the Head of Site Wide Services, Chief Engineer and Enterprise AMOC.
• Establishing effective Task/project delivery metrics and ensuring all Site Value Streams have reports/updates and Task team representation at Sentencing Boards and Plant Health Committees.

Knowledge & Experience

• Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in a relevant engineering/project discipline
• Experience of running projects on a nuclear licenced site
• Experience of managing budgets, contracts and contract frameworks
• Understanding of engineering processes and procedures to safely execute work and modify plants/facilities
• Knowledge of site asset care process

Essential Skills

• Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in a relevant engineering/project discipline.
• Significant engineering AND/OR project experience, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility.
• Excellent people leadership skills, including experience of team management and managing customers.
• Demonstrable experience in Continuous Improvement and driving Value For Money.
• Experience of Managing Financial Budgets, working with Contract Frameworks and contracts preferable.

Desirable Skills

• Ability to attain Chartership with a relevant discipline
• Ability to attain APM Qualification
• Demonstrable experience in Continuous Improvement and driving Value For Money
• Demonstrable experience with site asset management process
