Job Description As part of our membership of WANO, Sellafield have a commitment to provide secondees to work within the WANO Paris Centre. WANO is changing through the Action for Excellence programme, and therefore, secondee requirements are also changing. Who: Predominately based at B3 employees. B4A employees may be considered dependent on the roles available and performance/potential ratings. When: Secondments will commence 2027 onwards. Roles: Various roles are available at WANO Paris Centre dependent on the individual’s skill set and availability at the time. These include, but are not limited to; WANO Representative, Recovery Leader, Senior Area Experts (Operations, Maintenance and Engineering), Member Support Mission Team Leaders, Operating Experience Engineers and Peer Reviewers (see ‘Role Specifics’ below for further information). Disciplines: Organisation & Administration / Engineering / Maintenance / Operations / Operating Experience. As well as Business Leaders and Area Experts. Other disciplines may be considered. Principal Accountabilities • WANO secondments are for 3 years. The first 2-years are based predominantly in Paris, whereas the final year is based in the UK. • Dependent on the role, significant periods of time are spent travelling for Missions, both within and outside of Europe. • Periods of time are likely to be spent in the WANO Paris Office • WANO missions can be hard work but are rewarding • A secondment at WANO provides the opportunity to experience new cultures, different ways of working and both rewarding and challenging personal growth opportunities. • Individuals will leave Sellafield at their current grade and return following secondment at the same grade. • At the end of the secondment, support will be provided to enable repatriation • Compensation and benefits whilst seconded will be in-line with the T&C’s for International Assignments (HR-Reward) at the time of secondment, and are subject to a written agreement between SL and the individual. Role Specifics Technical Department The mission of the Technical Department is to support the WANO organisation and its Members with identifying and solving plant performance gaps and contributing to achieving and maintaining excellent performance. This is achieved by sustaining a centre of excellence for the identified functional areas. The Technical Department provides a range of services and contributions to members and to all WANO-PC programs and activities, related to the following PO&Cs functional areas: OP: Operations; OF: Operational Focus; EP: Emergency Preparedness; FP: Fire Protection; FS: Fire Safety; MA: Maintenance; WM: Work Management; PM: Project Management; RP: Radiological Protection; RS: Radiological Safety; EN: Engineering; ER: Equipment Reliability; CM: Configuration Management; NF: Nuclear Fuels; CY: Chemistry; TR: Training. The main position in the Technical Department is the Functional Lead who undertakes these activities whilst establishing a good working relationship with counterparts at other regional centres. Monitoring and Effectiveness Department The Member Support Department develops methods, tools, and activities that support the Members to improve their safety and reliability by identifying solutions to known problems at a member’s facility. The Member Support Department maintains the overall view of Member performance trends and commitment by providing focused assistance in a timely manner. Roles within this department include Operating Experience Engineer, Performance Analyst, WANO Representative and Industry Learning and Development Manager. Assessment & Assurance Department The mission of the Assessment and Organisational Effectiveness Department is to assess with the best quality and consistency all the WANO Paris Centre members to improve the safety and reliability of their stations and/or technical installations. This department performs peer reviews, corporate peer reviews, WANO Assessment, and input to allow detection of plants needing more assistance. Secondees working in the Assessment department go on missions 20 weeks a year on average and generally start their secondment as Functional Lead in the Technical Department and may then move to the Assessment and Organisational Effectiveness department to take other responsibilities like Follow-up Team Leader, Coordinator, Peer Review or Corporate Peer Review Team Leader. The main Assessment Department Positions are Coordinator, Peer Review Team Leader, Follow-Up Team Leader and Corporate Peer Review Team Leader.
