As part of our membership of WANO, Sellafield have a commitment to provide secondees to work within the WANO Paris Centre. The delivery model for WANO is changing from an assessment-based approach to a more supportive and improvement approach, and as such the products and services provided by WANO have an increased focus on enhanced support and effectiveness whilst still undertaking assessment activities to highlight gaps to excellence standards. This is through the Action for Excellence programme, and therefore in order the facilitate this Action for Excellence programme, secondee requirements are also changing.

Who: Predominately based at B3 employees. B4A employees may be considered dependent on the roles available within WANO and their current individual performance/potential ratings.

When: Secondments will commence 2027 onwards.

Roles: Various roles are available at WANO Paris Centre dependent on the individual’s skill set and the requirements of WANO at the time. These include, but are not limited to; WANO Representative, , Senior Area Experts (Operations, Maintenance and Engineering), Member Support Mission Team Leaders, Operating Experience Engineers, Performance/Data Analysts and Area Leads/Functional Leads (see ‘Role Specifics’ below for further information).

Disciplines: Organisation & Administration / Engineering / Maintenance / Operations / Operating Experience. As well as Business Leaders and Area Experts. Other disciplines may be considered.

Principal Accountabilities

• WANO secondments are for 3 years. The first 2-years are based predominantly in Paris, whereas the final year is based in the UK.
• Dependent on the role, there will be periods of time spent travelling for Missions, both within and outside of Europe, balanced with periods of time at the WANO Paris Centre office.
• WANO missions can be hard work but are rewarding.
• A secondment at WANO provides the opportunity to experience new cultures, different ways of working and both rewarding and challenging personal growth opportunities.
• Individuals will leave Sellafield at their current grade and return following secondment at the same grade.
• At the end of the secondment, support will be provided to enable repatriation
• Compensation and benefits, whilst seconded, will be in-line with the T&C’s for International Assignments (HR-Reward) at the time of secondment, and are subject to a written agreement between SL and the individual.

Essential Skills

• Be experienced and motivated professionals with good technical and interpersonal skills who can work as an integral part of a team.
• Individuals who are ‘self-starters’, ‘complete finishers’ with enquiring minds.
• Individuals for whom a secondment would further their development.
• Have managerial experience of leadership / supervisory experience
• Individuals who would be an enthusiastic member of the WANO Peer Review programmes or support / assistance programmes.

Desirable Skills

• Be professional and credible when dealing with WANO members.
• Be able to work alone or as part of teams which will be diverse in nature.
