Application Process

Our application process is broken down into eight clear stages. This page details each stage and what you can expect to happen.

Disability & Special Requirements – If you have a disability, or any special requirements, which mean that you require assistance at any stage of the selection process, including completion of our application form, then please contact us directly on [email protected] so we can make any necessary reasonable adjustments to support your needs.

Stage 1: Online Application

The first stage of our application process starts with an online application. You can see all our live vacancies by visiting the Search & Apply section. Please visit our Hints & Tips page for further details on how to make an application.

Stage 2: Interview

We aim to make you feel at ease leading up to and during your interview as we understand this can be a stressful time. We will provide some guidance notes prior to you attending your interview and a resourcing team member will be in attendance on the day to answer any questions you may have.

Stage 3: Conditional Offer

If you are successful at the interview stage we would be delighted to give you a conditional offer. However we advise that you do NOT hand in your notice with your current employer at this stage, as you are required to gain medical and security clearance prior to your offer being confirmed. If you have any further questions in regard to the role at this stage please contact your Resourcing Advisor.

Stage 4: Security Clearance

All Sellafield Ltd employees must complete the security clearance process. Security clearance will take a minimum of two weeks to be processed once submitted to Sellafield Ltd Vetting team. However we will provide a list of the necessary documentation early on in the process and advise that you complete this as soon as possible to avoid any delays.

Stage 5: Medical

You will be able to book your medical as soon as you have accepted your conditional offer – instructions will be provided in the email you receive. Please endeavour to book the next available medical date to avoid any delays.

Once you have had your medical appointment it will take at least 10 working days to be returned to the resourcing team.

Stage 6: Confirmation of Offer

Once security clearance and satisfactory medical results have been received, the Resourcing team will contact you to arrange a suitable start date. You will then receive written confirmation of your offer of employment allowing you to hand in your notice with your current employer.

Stage 7: Induction and Start Date

All new starters will receive joining instructions to assist with your first day. Make sure you read these carefully for your induction time and directions. Your induction will last all day where you will cover basic site procedures, health and safety regulations, collection of your site pass and a pension and pay talk.

On your second day you will be collected by your line manager and taken to your place of work.
