What is the starting salary for an apprenticeship?

The starting salary differs depending upon which scheme you undertake. For more information regarding salary and benefits, please refer our apprenticeship reward page here.

What qualifications do I need for an apprenticeship?

Most Sellafield Ltd Apprenticeship / Degree Apprenticeships require at least a minimum of 3 GCSEs Grade 4 (Grade C) in Mathematics, English Language & one Science, or Engineering subject, or Equivalent. Schemes can also require additional entry requirements/qualifications. If I was successful in gaining an apprenticeship and needed to relocate, do you offer any support?

If you’re relocating here from more than 30 miles away to join one of our apprenticeship schemes, we’ll support you with a relocation allowance of £1,400 (£175 for the first 8 weeks) – we’ll also give you plenty of information on the best areas to live and how to find a place too. *Subject to meeting terms of relocation.

I am not a school leaver, can I still apply for an apprenticeship?

Yes, there is no upper age limit when applying for an apprenticeship or degree apprenticeship at Sellafield Ltd.

How do I apply for an Apprenticeship or Degree Apprenticeship at Sellafield Ltd?

Applications will open for our 2025 intake on 30th November 2024 via this website. Look out for the apprentice – apply now page.

Can I send my CV instead of applying online?

No, all applications must be completed via the Apprenticeship apply now page which will appear when applications open.

Will the company support me to gain additional qualifications?

As part of your apprenticeship you will be working towards a level of qualification relevant to your role/scheme. What happens when I finish my Apprenticeship / Degree Apprenticeship at Sellafield Ltd?

On successful completion of your apprenticeship with Sellafield Ltd, we will look to move you into your permanent role, subject to business requirements.

When do you open and close for applications to the Apprenticeships / Degree Apprenticeships?

Applications open on the 30th November 2024 for our 2025 intake.

Application will close on 16th February 2025.

How long is the selection/on-boarding process?

Please see below an estimated timeline of the selection/on-boarding process you will typically go through.

Applications: November – February

Assessment: February

Interviews: March-April

Conditional Offers: April

Onboarding Process (Security Clearance, Medical): April – August

Start Date: Early September

How long is an apprenticeship at Sellafield Ltd?

The length of your scheme will vary dependent upon the Apprenticeship / Degree Apprenticeship you are completing. Typically, it will be between 2 – 4 years. If I am successful when applying for an Apprenticeship / Degree Apprenticeship, when would I start?

The usual start date for Apprenticeship & Degree Apprenticeships at Sellafield Ltd is early September.

When will I know where I will be based?

Cumbria applicants: You will be based at any of the Sellafield Ltd locations around West Cumbria / any associated training providers within the area.

Warrington applicants: You will be based at Hinton House in Warrington or other associated workplaces / any associated training providers within the area.

Can I apply for more than one Apprenticeship Scheme / Degree Apprenticeship?

As part of your application form, you will be able to select up to three schemes / pathways of interest you would like to be considered for. Please ensure you review the scheme information on the following pages to ensure you are well aligned to the choices you make.

What happens once I have submitted my application?

Once you have completed your application via our Apply page, your details will be reviewed by the Recruitment team to ensure you meet our application criteria. If successful you will be invited to complete a short series of assessments that will assess your values, strengths, and situational judgement.

Should you meet the pass mark on completion of the assessment section, you will be invited to attend an interview. Please visit the application process page for more detail on what you can expect throughout.

If I am unsuccessful can I apply again next year?

Yes, we would welcome you to apply again in the following years campaign.

Do Sellafield Ltd only recruit engineering Apprentices / Degree Apprenticeships?
