What degrees are accepted for the Summer and Industrial Placements?
- Engineering – Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Process.
- Science – Chemistry, Environmental, Materials, Mathematics, Physics.
- Business – Commercial, Project Management.
What year of university is accepted for the Summer Placements?
The summer Placement scheme links directly with the graduate scheme. Therefore we’d prefer you to be in your penultimate year of study when applying.
What should I do if I have additional needs that my affect my performance during any stage of the recruitment process?

I’m not a recent graduate and have some work experience, can I still apply?
The summer and industrial Placement Schemes are directly aimed at university students. You may find a suitable role on the Sellafield Ltd graduate scheme. Alternatively please check the Search & Apply page to see if you are suitable for our experienced hire vacancies.
Can I send my CV instead of applying online?
Unfortunately we do not accept direct CV’s. All applications must be directed through the Search & Apply page.
How long do opportunities last?
Summer Placement Scheme : 10 weeks
Industrial Placement Scheme : 12 months
When should I submit my application?
Applications open at the start of Autumn every year, for both industrial and summer placements.
If I am successful, when will I start?
Both Placement Schemes will start at the end of June – your start date will be dependent on successful completing pre-employment checks.
Will my Placement link me directly to the Graduate Scheme?
All Placements students take part in an assessment centre during the scheme. If you pass this assessment, you may be offered a place on the graduate scheme following your graduation and dependent on suitable vacancies/roles being available.
