The commercial profession provides a service to the whole of Sellafield Ltd. As part of our support to achieve the Site’s strategic objectives, the Supply Chain Directorate tenders, awards and manages supply chain contracts, with committed expenditure in excess of £1bn per annum.

Typical roles and responsibilities:

The Commercial/Supply Chain Directorate performs an integral role in delivery of Site Operations, Projects and Programmes; be it via strategic procurement activities, supplier relationship management or commercial contract management. Graduates receive daily on the job training, coaching and mentoring by experienced Supply Chain colleagues that ensure they receive gradually increasing levels of responsibility. This includes assisting with the collation, drafting and organisation of tender and competition documentation, drafting terms and conditions of contract, contract management, commercial governance, and liaising with/attending meetings with internal stakeholders/project functions (examples including project management, technical, legal and safety), and the supply chain.

Progression possibilities:

Supply Chain graduates follow a structured graduate scheme that ensures they receive the experience and training necessary to commence and enhance their career progression through the Supply Chain Directorate. Graduates will undertake professional training/qualifications aligned to either, the Charted Institute of Purchase and Supply (CIPS) to gain MCIPS or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to gain MRICS Chartership.
